My first book was rejected by every major American publisher, but I persevered until it was a #1 best-seller and an Oprah book. I am a book editor who knows the ins and outs of publishing, and that includes all the frustrations – and the joys. I am well versed in both traditional publishing and self-publishing because I’ve had best-sellers with both. There are a lot of people who claim to be book editors, who swear they are legitimate publishers and, in the end, just want your money. I am a book editor focused solely on your growth as a writer and author. I am a writing coach committed to your dream.

Are you serious about this?
If you’ve got a book inside you that is dying to get out, we should talk. I am a seasoned book, magazine, newspaper editor – and also the best-selling author of nine books, including an Oprah book. I have been book editor and writing coach for dozens of aspiring writers, and I get them to finish and publish their books! I’m here to encourage you, helping you plan, organize, write, rewrite and get that book out of your head (and heart) and into the hands of readers.
Visualize.
What would you like your project to look like? What do you want it to say? We'll spend time clarifying your vision and goals, to determine how they mesh with what readers are actually buying.
Organize.
Our job is to get your reader from the first to the last word with as little difficulty as possible. That means you don't write 500 pages. We will look at what the topic requires, what people will actually read and how to best get your message across.
Write.
This is the fun part. You get to create something that no one has ever created. It's your moment. We enjoy the experience as you build your writing muscles.
Polish.
Great books are almost always the product of great rewriting. Almost any sentence or paragraph could be written better, so the real challenge is to improve it and know when the time has come to let it go.
"A lot of would-be authors write and rewrite and rewrite what they just rewrote. They never even finish their first chapter. "

The Big Picture
Your first outline might look like a great work of fiction once your book is complete, but you need a good roadmap so you won't get stuck. So we will spend time figuring out what it is you want to communicate and the best way for you to make your points.
Book Shepherd
I'm there from the beginning, helping you organize, write, rewrite until it is golden, query agents and publishers (or, if self-publishing, hire a copy editor and designer), then move forward with a marketing and media strategy.
Coach
I work with select writers who want to write outstanding books. If you want to become a better writer with the help of a successful, proven author, coach and editor, we should discuss working together. I work with people who are excited about the process and open to learning and being edited.
Editor
I am a developmental editor who focuses on content. That means I am all about the big picture of your book and the right words that bring your book to life. I look at it from the reader's perspective to make sure this comes out of your heart, not your ego.
Do you need some help?
If you want a book editor or writing coach to help you write your proposal, query agents, find a traditional publisher and deal with their editors, marketing people and the media, we should talk. I have been there and done that many times. And if you decide to self-publish, I can hook you up with copy editors, designers and printers, as well as help you devise a marketing plan. And I will fiercely protect you from the many unscrupulous “consultants” and faux publishing companies that just take your money. I have a track record as an accomplished editor and author.
